Renewable energy finance advisors Voltiq and Amscap complete merger process

Dutch financial advisory boutiques Voltiq and Amsterdam Capital Partners (AMSCAP) have fully integrated by merging the two companies, they announced on 6 September. The two firms entered a partnership in November 2021 and have since then intensively cooperated on mandates in renewable energies.

The merged firm provides the full range of financial advisory services, including M&A, equity raising, debt financing, financial asset management, as well as project development and tender advisory. The firm will operate under the Voltiq brand name, and will be headquartered in Amsterdam, with branches in Madrid, Singapore and Colombia. Following the merger, the company covers the entire spectrum of technologies, services and markets in the renewable energy and energy transition space.

Recent landmark transactions include the planned takeover of Dutch energy transition platform Groendus by global pension fund giants APG and OMERS, and the investment by Canadian pension fund CDPQ in the Greater Changhua 1 offshore wind project in Taiwan.

Major contributors to these successful transactions were Niels Pietersen and Quentin Le Noac'h. Both have recently been appointed Partners at Voltiq. Niels, an experienced investment banker at ABN AMRO and the Royal Bank of Scotland, joined Voltiq in 2020. Quentin joined AMSCAP in 2019 after gaining extensive experience at Vattenfall, BNP Paribas and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Jan-Peter Elffers, co-founder of AMSCAP and Partner at Voltiq, comments: “Our global clients are increasingly interested in becoming engaged in projects and companies that accelerate and contribute to the energy transition across multiple sectors, including on- and offshore wind, solar, hydrogen, storage, transmission, and energy related services. Having in-depth expertise in different technologies and markets under one roof further enhances the ability to serve our clients best.”

Paul Rittersma, Partner and co-founder at Voltiq, adds: “The current energy market is turbulent and full of opportunities and challenges. Thanks to our combined knowledge and experience, we are now more than ever the ultimate partner for investors and developers that need a reliable and experienced advisor with a vision for the future. I am confident that clients will reap the benefits of our merger.”
