San Andrés Solar & Battery Storage

Sopesa is the energy authority for the island of San Andrés, which belongs to the Republic of Colombia. Sopesa, together with Latin American solar developer Amazilya, hired Voltiq for the commercial and financial structuring of a solar + BESS (Battery Energy Storage and Supply) project.

Voltiq built the business case, negotiated the long term PPA with Sopesa, originated and structured the EPC contracts with Fluence and Trina Solar, and assisted in acquiring term sheets for the debt financing.

The project was later on assigned by Sopesa to Colombian energy company Ecopetrol, in function of which a first stage of the project will be implemented in 2022.
