Rafael Rivas is Founding Partner and Managing Director of Ágora. Voltiq has an exclusive strategic alliance for Latin America with Ágora, working under the name “Voltiq-Ágora".
Rafael is a former Director of Rothschild in Colombia between 2000 and 2004. Before joining Rothschild, Rafael was a founding partner of Económica Consultores, an economic consultancy. He was Economic Secretary of the Presidency under President Gaviria. He was advisor to the Head of the National Planning Department and Advisor of the Fiscal Policy Council at the Ministry of Finance of Colombia.
Rafael holds a PhD in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University, has an MSc in Economics from Queen Mary College (University of London) and a BA in Economics from Williams College. Rafael is an occasional contributor to various publications.
Rafael is or has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Colombian leading corporates Bavaria, Publicaciones Semana, Biomax, Corporación Financiera Colombiana, Agrícola El Cactus, Avefarma, Caja de Crédito Agrario, FINDETER, Ciudad Salitre, SOFASA and Finca. As Economic Secretary of the Presidency, he was a non-voting member of the Board of the Colombian Central Bank. He was also a member of the National Tariff Board and acted as a teacher at the Universidad de los Andes. Rafael is currently a member of the Editorial Board of Revista Dinero.
